Welcome to Hwesta's Hideaway, my own litte spot of the web filled with things that interest me, and things that might interest you. As of now, I have many dolls, probably a contest running, my NaNoWriMo Novel, any stories that I've gotten around to writing and a few other random things. Updates will be posted as they happen. Enjoy your time here, and come back soon!
As I'm sure you can tell, this is a new host, and a chunk of my archives gone. (Frankly, I haven't a clue why these still exist!) My lovely former host seems to have let her hosting expire, and my archives were the only thing that I didn't have a backup of.
I'm working on a new layout to go with my unexpected move over to edonil.com (thank you, sis), along with my long-promised and much-needed site revamp. In the mean time, you can see what I'm up to at hwestaa.livejournal.com

Never trust Maxtor hard drives. They have a 6 month lifespan and then they crash and burn and take everything with them. This is the second time that we've gotten a computer through Dell with a Maxtron hard drive and it's crashed on us in six months. You'd think I'd learn to update more often!
In case you haven't gathered yet, while I was gone my computer crashed and I hadn't backed up in two months. It could have been worse (like during NaNo!), but I am still not a happy Hwesta. I don't think I've done that much in the past few months on the computer, but it's still extremely annoying. It's going to take a while to reinstall all the programs I use, figure out what I lost and get it back and customize my computer again. Yes, a very perturbed Hwesta-girl.
In better news, I'm back and it was fun on the boat, as usual. Got lots of ideas for my NaNo novel, so I can start planning now, and did some work on DotF. I even got part of Rowena's bio for the WoTRP done.
I'm rereading WoT, and it's definitely better the second time through. I'm half way through book 8 now. I can't wait to get to the end of book 9! -g-
I'm sure school starts here soon, I just can't remember when. Sometime after Labor Day, probably.
Yup, I'm off, again, this time for a couple of weeks on the boat. My summer is rapidly disappearing, to my chagrin. However, when I get back, I'll actually have updates! I finished a couple of dolls, but won't have a chance to put them up before I leave, so you'll get to see them when I return.
I have discovered the joys of creating music on the computer. I've been playing around with strings of notes practically since I got my precious flute, and now I can hear what they look like when I have the melodies and harmonies together. So now I'm putting some of the songs I'd written earlier on, and playing around with some other stuff on the computer. I'm not completely happy with any of them, but I intend to make a new section for them soon. If you're curious and want to listen to them now, here's a few links. They're all midis.

Playing around
Playing around with chords - I'm still working on this one.
CC appreciated, as with everything I do. Remember, I'm learning!
Camp was amazing. There were people there from all around the world - Nigeria, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, New Zealand, various parts of the UK, the US, Egypt and Russia, to name a few. Also, every province and territory in Canada sent some girls - which includes Nunavut. I was quite surprised to walk by and see a Nunavut flag on one of the tents, let me tell you! There was a ton of BC girls there - 250 of us, and about as many from Alberta. In a camp of 2700, that's a fair percentage!
Ontario is really flat. Not as flat as the prairies, I'm sure, but very flat to someone who's lived in BC most of her life. There are no mountains on the horizon. Very odd. Their weather is also strange. Here, while it does rain 9 months of the year, when it stops for the summer, it actually stops. It doesn't have thunderstorms and torrential rain followed by scorching hot days. The thunderstorms also scared all of us BC girls, who could all count on one hand the number of thunderstorms we'd lived through. They have the most amazing skies over there, though. They're huge and just beautiful.
I went as an Offer of Service, since I'm too old to go as a girl, so I worked half the time, helping out with the program sessions. The rest of the time I attended sessions and hung out, chatting with various people from around the world. It was an awesome experience.
Depending on how things work out, I might have pictures, but my camera seems to hate me, so I'm not sure how that'll go.
And on a more site-related note, I'm working on two of three dolls that are going to be the examples for my next contest. Yay!
