Hwesta's Hideaway started sometime in 2004 with grand ideas and no real idea of how to realize them - a hopelessly complicated site navigation where you wandered through a castle (stolen off the kinds of sites I used to enjoy -shudder-), pretty animated backgrounds and no real idea what to put up as far as content. In short, it would have been terrible, and it's probably a blessing it was never inflicted on the internet.
My ideas languished untouched until I came back in early 2004 with my first layout and still more epic ideas of becoming the biggest, bestest site evar! Actually, I don't remember why I started working on Hwesta's Hideaway again, other than I rediscovered a link to my old geocities site in my favorites and was probably bored.
Since then, I changed from geocities to crazy-girl.org (now gone when my generous hostess let her hosting expire) to edonil.com, which I got primarily because I'm good friends with Edonil, have access to her site, and decided to make myself a subdomain when crazy-girl disappeared. Thanks, Edonil.
On the technical side, I started off using straight HTML on my sites, learned off Neopets and later <Code_punk> and W3C. Once I knew better, I added CSS, external stylesheets and iframes to make updating layouts easier. SSI (server side includes) were the next step, making all my pages end in .shtml. Now, I've moved on to learning Php, in the hopes of making a proper backend. In the mean time, I just use Php includes to manage the layout and make life easier.
That's about it, up until December 2008. I update when I have content, and sadly let Hwesta's Hideaway languish when I'm not doing much to show to the world (like, y'know, during school). Enjoy!
