I took a rather extended dolling hiatus between September 2007 and May 2008. All these dolls (with one exception made in December 2007) are from after that time, since I made a pretty significant jump in quality. Dolls are in reverse chronological order - newest at the top.

For Make A Doll A Day In May (MADADIM) which turned into Make Dolls In May (MDIM) for me. She's nothing spectacular. I tried to do a pattern, since Chinese dresses are all about the gorgeously patterned fabrics, but it didn't come out great. Pixeled in KolourPaint, May 23, 2010. For MDIM. Inspired off of a multitude of dress designs by an artist I like, and among the smallest doll's I've made. I really like the yellow one, the purple gradient on the skirt, and the skirt edging on the brown one. And, of course, I love the design for all of them, though I can't take credit for that. Pixeled in KolourPaint, May 16, 2010.

For MDIM. I had a really good mental image for her, but it didn't turn out in pixels. Hair didn't turn out quite as well as it looked on the doll I stole it off of. At least the shoes were surprisingly easy. Pixeled in KolourPaint, May 4, 2010. For MDIM. I quite like her, especially the strips and the skirt shading. The top might look better in a more contrasty color. Not bad for my first doll in about a year. Click to see the solid color stockings. Pixeled in KolourPaint (similar to MS Paint), May 3, 2010.

Saraswati

She took me far to long to finish, mostly because I kept getting distracted. I adore and want her boots. Trying out a bit of a new style, and going for something very pixel-y, if that makes sense. I think she came out quite well. Base reshaded, to my pride. Click to see all the alternate faces I came up with. Pixeled in PSP8, May 2009 This is easily my most ambitious doll to date. I decided to enter Miss Doll Myth, and chose the Hindu goddess Saraswati, since she had four arms and lots of neat iconography. I ended up doing sooooo much research for her - on saris, on veenas (her instrument), more symbolism, the Hindu pantheon... The base was edited hugely to get the right position. I'm rather happy with her, though some of the folds bug me, and the flatness of the veena is annoying, but I don't know what else to do with her. Pixeled in PSP8, July 2008.

Every year, TG has a yearbook and we doll ourselves on a base. I didn't manage to finish mine in time 2007, but I managed it 2008. I really like her hair, and the base edit. The original face is creepy, if you ask me. She does a decent representation of me, and I wish I owned that shirt! It was inspired by one I own, but not the same. Pixeled in PSP8, July 2008. I made her for Random 40 on TG, since it was 3 days to the deadline and it had no entries and I felt sorry for the admin. The theme was stars and stripes, so she has pinstriped pants and a great big star on her shirt. I have always admired Libby's (the basemaker's) style, so I tried to imitate it here, in the style of folds and the general design, though obviously still my own creation. I really like her, especially the armwarmers and the awesome rainbow toe socks. Sadly, however, I didn't win the challenge - 2 others entered after I did and one of them won. Pixeled in PSP8, July 2008.

I was planning to enter Miss Doll Fantasy, and this was my audition doll, but I didn't really like her and didn't finish her in time. I need to finish her, since I have some CC I need to work with. Tooled in PSP8, July 2008. I was hit by random inspiration for her one morning, and completed her in a day, which is quite unusal for me, as dolls normally take days. Such a cute outfit! I don't like the umbrella, and it was horrible to make, but I love everything else, especially the skirt. Pixeled in PSP8, June 2008.

Ah, the doll that seemed to get me back into dolling. Made for a card contest as the Ace of Clubs. I originally chose clubs because nobody else had, then realized how hard it is to pixel a club! I want her outfit, especially those boots! I'm rather proud of her hair, too. Pixeled in Paint, May 2008. This is my single doll made in December 2007 (that I like enough to show, that is). I actually really like her - the folds came out nicely, and the hair was probably my first time doing decent curls. I had a bunch of versions, but these are the two I liked best. Pixeled in Paint.
